The Best in Low, Icons of Street & Show is at the Petersen Automotive Museum til May 2025. On a Sunday morning they hosted a Lowrider Cruise which I went to film & check out the show (Thanks Craig:)
The show is co-curated by Dr. Denise Sandoval & is comprehensive overview with iconic cars, bikes, motorcycles & art. Each car is a story & innovative in design with spectacular colors, pinstripping & airbrush art. The history of lowriding & car clubs as been mostly male dominated but this show includes the “First Lady” Tina L. Blankenship-Early & her 1966 Chevrolet Caprice “Game Killa” & Sandy Avila, President of the Lady Lowriders & her 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (featured in YouTube thumbnail) & more.
The Lady Lowriders Chill & Grill 2023
I started documenting Lowrider culture in 2023 when I learned about the Lady Lowrider Car Club based in Pasadena. They had a great turnout to their Chill & Grill event with many car clubs showing up & cruising around.
